Jones and Niehaus to compete in NCAA D. III Championships
Jones will be competing in the triple jump on Saturday, March 12 at 2:30 p.m. where he is looking to win his fourth national championship. He is going into the event ranked number one, as he set a mark of 50'3.50" on Saturday, February 26 at the Anderson Fred Wilt Indoor Invitational in Anderson, Ind. Jones is the only one competing in the event who set a mark of 50' or higher.
Niehaus is going into the weight throw event tied for eighth place, after posting a mark of 57'3.75" at the DePauw Indoor Classic on Saturday, February 19 in Greencastle, Ind. She will be looking to finish in the top eight of the weight throw event in order to be an All-American. Niehaus is competing in the weight throw event on Friday, March 11 at 11:00 a.m. Last year she was only one of three sophomore's competing in the event at Nationals.
Senior Kasey Jackson (Joplin, Mo.) was the first Centre female sprinter/hurdler to ever set a provisional national qualifying mark in the 55 hurdles, unfortunately she was not one of the few to be picked to compete in the 2011 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships. Jackson set a provisional national qualifying time of 8.51 in the event at the Anderson Indoor Invitational on Saturday, February 26 in Anderson, Ind.
