Seven athletes finish the season ranked in Top 50 for track and field
Junior Emily Niehaus (Maineville, Ohio) is entering Nationals ranked eighth in the hammer throw with a mark of 176'9.65", which is also the school record. She will be competing on Thursday, May 26 in the event. Niehaus is also 37th in the shot put with a throw of 41'9.75".
Senior Samantha Thornburg (Bonita Springs, Fl.) ended the season ranked 47th in the hammer throw with a mark of 153'10".
Junior Loran Crowell (Harrodsburg, Ky.) completed the season ranked 49th in the javelin throw with a throw of 126'0". Her mark of 126'0" is a school record.
On the men's side, senior Chrys Jones (Harrodsburg, Ky.) is in high hopes of winning his fifth consecutive national title in the triple jump and his third consecutive outdoor title. He is currently ranked ninth in the nation with a jump of 48'9.82" and will compete on Saturday, May 28. Jones is also 35th in the nation in the long jump with a jump of 22'11.25".
Senior Clinton Cahall (Georgetown, Ohio) is 45th in the nation in the 10,000 meter run with a time of 31:10.06. He currently holds the school record in the event with his time of 31:10.06.
Freshman John Kieffer (Dublin, Ohio), the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Co-Newcomer-of-the-Year, wrapped up his first season ranked 49th in the steeplechase with a time of 9:25.16 and currently holds the school record in the event.
