Mike Pritchard is in his ninth year as the head baseball coach
at Centre College. Pritchard came to Centre from Hanover College,
where he served as the pitching coach for three years.
The Colonels have won 121 games during his time at Centre and have
broken or tied 31 school records. The program has also had 39
all-conference selections, two all-region players and three
student-athletes named the Centre Male Student Athlete-of-the-Year
in that time.
Pritchard guided Centre to a 12-game improvement his first year. In 2007 the Colonels qualified for the conference tournament for the first time in eight years. Centre then went 20-17 in 2008, which marked only the third time in school history a Centre team had won 20 games or more in a season and the first winning season since 2001.
The 2009 season saw the Colonels qualify for their third
straight conference tournament, where they finished third for the
highest finish in SCAC Tournament history. The first win of that
tournament was a 4-2 victory over the No. 2 team in the nation,
Millsaps College, in the opening round.
Pritchard, a 1999 graduate of the University of Dayton, pitched
for the Flyers and was a team captain his senior year. After
graduating, he served two seasons as an assistant coach at Dayton
working primarily with the outfielders.
A native of Watsontown, PA, Pritchard lives in Danville with his
wife Laura.
